Any hints for trimming a dogs nails?

My dog hates having her nails clipped. I usually end up scratched before I am done. Does anyone have any suggestions for making this easier?

I have tried treats and toys, but nothing works. I even tried a groomer, but they made things worse by clipping a couple of her nails too short.Any hints for trimming a dogs nails?
When I had a dog who hated having her nails done I had someone feed her peanut butter (big glop scraped onto the roof of her mouth) and control her head while I clipped ONE toenail. We did this every night after dinner. Pretty soon she was looking for her peanut butter treat (and nail clip) every night.

As Ginbail said .. a dremel works for many dogs (or a Pedipaws which will break down faster than a dremel). But I would do a bit at a time while rewarding the dog. Don't think you have to do it all at one time, getting the dog used to it by repeating it on a daily basis will be more useful on a longterm basis.Any hints for trimming a dogs nails?
Every evening, get the nail clippers out, and some treats, and call your dog over. Play with her feet, and reward her. Eventually, when she starts associating the clippers with treats, start clipping her nails - a little at a time. Keep this up.

And it's better to clip a dog's nails a little bit, regularly, then to wait weeks, and then clip a lot off. So clip weekly or so, depending on how fast they grow and naturally wear down.
Like others have suggested Pedi-Paws look's like a great product. But what I do with my Siberian Husky is flip him over on his back and cut his nails and scratch his tummy at the same time, not only is this a good position, because he loves it when he scratch his stomach but also because his nails are black its easier to see the quick if his paws are upside down.
if the dog is bother by getting it nails trim then take her the vet and let the vets do it thay can probably sedate the dog . it's not being harmful it helping the dog relax. i see all the time at the grooming shop were i work we get dogs that are sedated to be groom. it's not Worth to get all scratch up and stress out just to trim her nail. all its going to do it make it worse and stress your dog out more.
You might want to buy a Pedi Paw nail Trimmer I have one and always use it on my dog and believe it or not it really works. Besides that it is also harmless and works more quicker and perfectly well - not only that but you won't have to worry about cutting through the quick of his claws which could cause him to bleed a lot then feeling guilty.
Get a pedi-paw. http://www.pedipaws.com/?directLoad%26amp;uid=C599300BE72641DB316AE86DB3348245

We have one and love it. And our dogs a big baby, so thats saying a lot!
